I read this great article 3 Signs That It’s Time To Quit Your Job and realized how similar the underlying themes were to achieving happiness in your franchise relationship. So, read it, and substitute “your employer” for “your franchise partner” and ask the question: Am I where I want to be with my franchise and, if not, is now the time to do something about it.
1) Your Values Do Not Align With The Franchisor’s Values – if the franchise that you are affiliated with is unable to “walk-the-talk” and contradicts its stated “partnership rules” don’t be surprised if they are unable to get your property on the path to profitability. Saying something nice and fluffy is one thing but actually following those words with appropriate actions is tough, hold them accountable.
2) You No Longer Enjoy Your Job – firstly, this isn’t a job but if you feel like the franchise is making money whilst you work your butt off like a beaten mule and get nothing in return…..screw that. Life is too short, you need to have the potential to make money and do it with a partner that is willing to roll up their sleeves and get dirty with you.
3) You’re Surrounded By Irresponsible Behavior – is the focus of your franchise partner on making it work for you or them? Are they willing to work with you through the tough times or is it a one-way street? Do they talk about what they can do for your asset, or do you feel like they are just kicking your ASSet to put pins on the map?
